Welcome to McLaren High School
Head Teacher's Welcome
It is a real pleasure to welcome you to McLaren High School. At the heart of our work is a belief in the potential of every young person. Each pupil is valued as an individual, encouraged to grow in confidence, and supported to achieve their very best — not only academically, but also through sport, creativity, leadership, and service to others. We are immensely proud of the resilience, character and kindness our young people demonstrate every day.
We are equally proud of our strong academic performance, with results that regularly place us among the top 10% of Scottish state secondary schools. This success reflects not only the commitment and talent of our young people, but also the dedication of our staff and the vital encouragement of parents and carers. Alongside this, we continue to develop a rich curriculum that nurtures creativity, supports wellbeing, and prepares our pupils for exciting futures in higher education, employment, and beyond.
Our school is set in the beautiful surroundings of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, a place that inspires our values of Inclusivity, Community, Kindness and Growth. These values underpin all that we do and are captured in our school motto:
“Rooted in Nature, United in Community, Growing in Kindness.”
Like the trees that surround us, our young people are developing strong roots, building resilience, and reaching toward a bright future.
Finally, we know that education is not something we do to children, but something we do with them — and with you. The strong partnership we share with parents and carers is one of the greatest strengths of McLaren High School. Your encouragement, support and belief in your children, and in us, makes a profound difference. Together, we ensure that every young person feels seen, heard and valued, and that they leave McLaren ready to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
